Sarah's epic Halloween party

So, it's been my not-so-secret dream to host a killer Halloween costume party. Ever since I was a youngin' I've enjoyed playing hostess and I really, really wanted to do it on the spookiest, most fun day of the year. This year I thought, gosh darnit, I'm going to do it and gosh darnit, I did! ;)

The party was for Ignite, our church 20's-30's group, but I took the liberty of inviting my sisters, some Japanese friends, and two perfect strangers (I'm an equal opportunity hostess). Here's what transpired...

On the menu was: creepy crawler confetti cupcakes (which took waaay too long to decorate individually, but looked great nonetheless), pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and a big bowl of worms and dirt (three layers of chocolate pudding, three layers of Oreo cookie crumbles, and many squiggly gummy worms), pomegranate punch, homemade caramel corn (courtesy of Julie), tortilla chips and salsa, soda, and lotsa candy!

The house was likewise given some eerie decor:

First, our group headed to the PSU Viking Gameroom for some bowling. We rented the place out for an hour and I tried to secure as many non-gutterballs as I could manage in a tiny skirt...

Next, we headed back to my place for desserts, snacks, and a creepy movie, "The Mothman Prophecies" ;) Brandon even did a dramatic recitation of Edgar Allen Poe's amazing poem, "The Raven". He did it all by memory-- very ambitious!

Most people stayed until about a quarter to one in the morning, so all in all, I think the party was a success! You better believe I'm already plotting next year's... ;)
